I was thrilled to be able to take engagement photos for one of my best friends, Vicky, this past weekend. Vicky moved in across the street from me in fourth grade, and it wasn't too long before we started spending hours together every day. Whether we were discussing all of our crushes and other serious business or singing a duet of the ABC's to pass the time (yes, we did that... many times), we always had fun.

As we grew up, there were many times that I took her for granted, not realizing what a loyal and amazing friend she was, but she stood by me no matter what and understood me like few people do. Now I know I don't even deserve a friend like her. So when I found out I would finally get the chance to meet the man that makes her happy AND be their photographer, I was extremely excited... until I found out what kind of "models" the two of them really were. 

You wouldn't imagine how difficult it was for them to, y'know, smile at the camera. They spent 95% of the time cracking jokes and being ridiculous:

It just couldn't be controlled despite my best efforts. In the moment, I'll admit it was a bit annoying (although funny). I was trying to get some great shots, damn it! 

It was only after I got home and started sorting through all of the pictures that I realized how incredible they really were. While they may not be the most aesthetically pleasing photos, they show a love and joy so strong that it cannot be contained... if only we all could find such a thing. Rarely can pictures prove that two people are meant for each other, but I think these do.

Cheers to you, Vicky and Doug. I hope you stay this ridiculous forever so your lives can be filled with laughter... except maybe during the wedding pictures. ;)
